Mental health resources for guides, prepared by the Benevolent Fund

Some useful resources for guides seeking emtional support. Assembled by Dr Barry Walsh MITG, trustee of the Benevolent Fund.

It is understandable that many guides are feeling anxious about the Coronavirus Pandemic. NHS 111 is under pressure dealing with calls relating to the virus.

The NHS website, www.nhs.uk, has details of mental health services available in each borough. The Mental Health Support Services page allows you to find these services through a postcode search. Not all of the services are able to provide face-to-face support, but they are increasingly using telephone and internet support systems.

The following resources to support colleagues anxious about their situation has been put together by the British Guild of Tourist Guides Benevolent Fund. Whether you're concerned about yourself or a loved one, these helplines and support groups can offer expert advice:

 

Anxiety UK

Charity providing support if you have been diagnosed with an anxiety condition.

Voluntary charity offering support for sufferers of panic attacks and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). Offers a course to help overcome your phobia or OCD.
