Past Event: Katrine Prince Memorial Lecture 2021: Virtual Event, 25/02/2021

Around 280 Institute members attended the annual Katrine Prince Lecture on 25th February 2021, which took place on-line via Zoom due to the current lockdown restrictions. This year’s lecture was given by London Blue Badge Tourist Guide Nick Salmond, the Katrine Prince London Guide of the Year in 2019.

The topic was Celebrating 300 Years of Prime Ministers, 1721 – 2021. The lectures were broken down into three sessions throughout the day:

  • How the office of Prime Minister has developed since 1721 and why Robert Walpole is usually referred to as the First Prime Minister;
  • Four early Prime Ministers: Lord North, William Pitt, Spencer Perceval and George Canning;
  • Benjamin Disraeli and William Gladstone, who dominated British politics for over thirty years.

The Institute thanks the Prince Family for their continuing support and generosity in keeping these important lectures going as well as Bule Badge Tourist Guides Joanna Hoad and Rachel Pearson for arranging a very successful day.

Next year’s lecture is scheduled to take place in February 2022 and full details will be posted in due course.
