Examinations
Participants on Institute-accredited training courses must pass all elements of the Institute examinations at the relevant level before they receive their badges and certificates.
Blue Badge
Blue Badge candidates take up to eight examinations of equal weighting. These are both written and practical examinations all of which must be successfully achieved. Blue Badge course candidates are entitled to three consecutive attempts at their examinations (primary and two re-sits), with the exception of the Tour Planning Project module where only one resit opportunity is allowed. All examination modules must be completed within 36 months of the date of the first examination, except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Qualifications Board (please see Equal Opportunities and Special Needs policy).
Green Badge
Green Badge candidates take four examinations of equal weighting. Two are written examinations and two are practical examinations. All examinations must be successfully completed. Green Badge course candidates are entitled to two consecutive attempts at their examinations (primary and one re-sit) to be completed within 36 months of the date of their first examination, except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Qualifications Board (please see Equal Opportunities and Special Needs policy).
White Badge
White Badge candidates take two examinations of equal weighting: one written and one practical. Both examinations must be successfully completed. White Badge course candidates are entitled to two consecutive attempts (primary and one re-sit) at their examinations to be completed within 12 months of the first examination, except in exceptional circumstances at the discretion of the Qualifications Board (please see Equal Opportunities and Special Needs policy).
